- Vantage Point -

Comments:

For days, The Barbarian and his little guide had been fighting their way through tracts of thick, dense jungle. The rumours of strange events had driven The Barbarian on his quest, and these little pink non-human creatures seemed to have the most stories to tell - their elders told of huge flying monsters and strange loud roaring noises and thunderclaps echoing throughout the jungle.

For the past day of their slow travel, The Barbarian had indeed heard these loud noises thundering through the jungle. His increasingly frightened guide had offered no additional insight into the cause of the noises, but found them no less unnerving than The Barbarian himself. In addition, The Barbarian was sure that the sun had been blocked out from time to time over the past day, as if some huge beast were flying overhead; but the thick jungle canopy made it hard to be certain.

Now, the unlikely pair climbed to the top of a hill which should overlook the coast. Ascending one final rocky rise, they burst into the late afternoon sunlight, high above the jungle. Neither of them was prepared for the vista which lay spread out below them...

This image was created late 2003, but held back so that I would have something to refresh the site while I was working on other projects (such as the Poser Bowhead project, available now at DAZ). Then, I had the opportunity to license a couple of previously-unviewed images to an on-line Science Fiction magazine Dawn Sky. Two of my images were licensed to the subscription-based magazine, so I held back on posting them here to allow 'First Publication' rights to the licensee.

It's now almost 3 months later, so I'm posting the images starting now. Also, by sheerest coincidence, the composition of this image fits the current Bryce List Challenge - of a distant scene, far away from the camera.
