- Remembering Skydancer -

Comments:

For as long as I have been using Bryce, one of my inspirations was the truly remarkable artist known as Skydancer. Sky's talents were not 'limited' to Bryce - rather, it was merely one of the tools in her multi-app arsenal. She was a master of Painter, Photoshop, various 3D fractal-generation programs, you name it. Increasingly over time, her complex beautiful pieces migrated away from 'pure' Bryce, and became more fully-integrated expressions of Skydancer's artistic vision. Also, for many years, Skydancer preceded me as one of the moderators of the Yahoogroups Bryce List, the original mailing list for discussion of Bryce-related art.

Skydancer is no longer with us, passing away in her sleep in early August 2007.

Anyone not familiar with her work should check out the retrospective of some of her recovered images on 'the Creative Matrix:' The Digital Art of Skydancer: A Retrospective - one look should instantly convert anyone still clinging to the outmoded belief that images rendered on a computer cannot be true 'art'...

One of Skydancer's most popular series was a series of images set in Copperworld. She depicted little children playing and exploring in an alternate world dominated (and supported?) by gigantic and whimsical structures of coppery metal, seemingly devoid of adult human intervention. Her fans had always hoped to see more of Copperworld, but alas, it was not to be... So, this image is my humble homage to Skydancer
